Honestants and Swindlecants #6 (Solution)

Have you got your answer? Let’s compare with mine.
this pic was taken from http://www.istockphoto.com.

There were 2 persons the gringo met there: the bartender and the man sitting next to him. The gringo asked the bartender if he spoke the truth. The bartender answered, but the gringo didn’t hear it. When the gringo asked the man sitting next to him, the man said, “The bartender said yes, but he is a big liar.” Is the bartender an Honestant? And how about that man?

Let’s analyze!
We’ve got to always remember this simple clue: whether someone is an Honestant or a Swindlecant, he always claim that he is an Honestant. So, we know that the bartender must answered “Yes” (though we haven’t known that he is an Honestant or a Swindlecant).

How about the man sitting next to the gringo? Because he said that the bartender said “yes” (it’s matching to the fact), he must be an Honestant. Means that all he said is true. Based on what the man said, we know now that the bartender is a Swindlecant.

Finally, we can conclude that the bartender is a Swindlecant, while the man sitting next to the gringo is an Honestant.

P.S.: This brain teaser I copied from Brain Teasers (http://brainden.com/logic-problems.htm). Just on click on that link, then you’ll get more brain teasers to tease your brain or even just to ease your boring day. When you get stuck, you can visit brain teasers forum to get extra “clues” from them whom have tried to solve it (but for me, it’s better to do it by myself as I did in solving this quiz).
